February 25, 1961 – November 16, 2024
Fort Kent---- Melvin Babin, 63, entered into rest November 16, 2024, at a Frenchville healthcare facility, with his loving family at his side. He was also a common sight during the early morning while he delivered the Bangor Daily News. Melvin was a fantastic chess player and loved being able to play with the school's Chess Club. When he wasn't checkmating his opponents, Melvin would go bowling with his friends or play Bingo wherever he could pick up a game. Melvin loved to sing and play guitar and would entertain anyone throughout the night.
He is survived by six siblings, Clayton Babin and his wife Lorraine of Fort Kent, John Babin and his wife Lynne of Eagle Lake, Mark Babin and his wife Claudette of Fort Fairfield, Carl Babin and his wife Karen of Fort Kent, Paul Babin and his husband Roy Strahan of Louisiana, and Gary Babin of Fort Kent; a sister-in-law, Claudette Babin of Fort Kent; a special niece and nephew, Stacy Raymond of New Canada and Shawn Babin of Fort Kent; and many nieces and nephews whom were always close to Melvin's heart.
Besides his parents, Melvin was predeceased by two siblings, Bryant Babin and Glenda LaFrance.
Melvin's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Joseph Memory Care, Frenchville and Northern Light Hospice for all of their dedicated and compassionate care during Melvin's extended stay.
