Fort Kent----- Michael Gaudreau, 72, passed away on March 2, 2020, at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 12, 1947, son of the late Alphee and Irene (Thibeault) Gaudreau. Michael courageously served his country with the 25 th Infantry Division in Vietnam, receiving two Purple Heart Medals for injuries sustained in combat. During the summer months, you could find Michael with his wife Diane at their camp in Birch Haven. He enjoyed carpentry and making crafts for his family and friends. Michael was an accomplished man with many titles, but the title he was most proud of was Pepere. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Diane Gaudreau of Fort Kent; two daughters, Tammy Daigle and her husband Steve Daigle of Fort Kent, and Shannon Chasse of Fort Kent; six grandchildren, Morgan, Stevie, Dawson, Isiac, Hannah, and Sawyer; one brother, Gerard "Pete" Gaudreau and his wife Nicole of Connecticut; three sisters, Rose Martin of Connecticut, Marie Daigle of Florida, Noella Daigle of New Canada; in-laws, Dale and Judy Tagget, Paul and Joyce Martin, Jeannita and Ronnie Oakes, and Albert and Michelle Martin; along with many nieces and nephews. Michael is predeceased by five sisters, Marguerite Pelletier, Martha Dubois, Alphena Pelletier, Anita Bossie, and Rita Lagasse; and one nephew, Colby Martin. A Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be celebrated 11am on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the St. Louis Church in Fort Kent. Family and friends may call at Lajoie-Daigle funeral home from 9-10:45am on Saturday before the service. Spring interment will be held at the VA Cemetery in Caribou, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions in Michael's memory may be made to the Maine Veteran's Home in Caribou, Maine: Maine Veterans Home (Activity Fund) at 163 Van Buren Rd.#2, Caribou, ME 04736.
