Waldoboro/Augusta--- Michael L. Madore, 77, died peacefully July 15, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Togus, after a battle with pneumonia, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born in Van Buren, Maine, on March 15, 1947, a son of Leo A. and Ruby (Cormier) Madore and was a 1966 graduate of Van Buren Boys High School.
After graduating from high school, Mike was drafted into the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam, which brought him many struggles, much pain, and discontentment throughout his life.
An avid reader and writer, Mike was a member of a writing club in Waldoboro, where he resided. The club had been started at Maine's VA Medical Center, Togus. Mike had a great sense of humor, enjoyed laughter, and especially spending time with family and friends.
Mike is survived by four siblings, Charlene Dennison of Windham, Carol Tardif and her husband Jim of Penobscot, Gale Madore of Old Orchard, and Gene Madore and his wife Linda of Van Buren; many special nieces and nephews; a step-daughter, Meredith Benner and her husband Rex with their children Sydney, Erik and Lindsay, all of Friendship; and many good friends, including special friend Frances Vigeant.
In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his wife Brenda, brothers Carroll and Kenneth, and a sister Leola Lilly.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1 PM on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Central Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, ME.
