Fort Kent – Michael Sylvain, 57, passed away unexpectedly October 25, 2025, following complications of a stroke. He was born March 21, 1968 in Fort Kent, a son of the late Norman and Gilma (Voisine) Sylvain.
Mike worked at Northern Maine Medical Center in the maintenance department for several years. Previously he worked at Twin Rivers Mill, Madawaska, as a forklift operator. Mike also worked several years as a salesman for Pelletier Motors, a job he really enjoyed and excelled at. Mike was a doting husband and cherished being able to provide for his wife and sons. He was a skilled handyman and enjoyed doing projects around the house. He was also an avid cook and never hesitated to whip up some new concoction. Family was central to his life and enjoyed joking with his many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle (Gagnon) Sylvain of Fort Kent; two sons, Travis Sylvain of Fort Kent and Randy Sylvain and his fiancé Brianna Williams of Madawaska; two stepchildren, Kelsey Caubo and her husband Eric of Washington, and Joshua Johnson and his wife Jackie of Georgia; four step grandchildren; Arlo, Ori, Christopher, and Emily; six siblings, Dennis Sylvain and his wife Barb of Frenchville, Phil Sylvain of Caribou, Roger Sylvain and his wife Annette of No. Carolina, Norma Cyr of Fort Kent, Patricia Gregoire of Augusta, and Diana Sylvain of Fort Kent; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by two siblings, Mary Helen Cyr and Lisa Shaw.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. There will be no call hours. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E Main St., Fort Kent.
