Obituary

Madawaska---Michael R. Violette, 48, passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2010 at the Edmundston hospital. He was born in Santa Monica, CA on July 1, 1961, the beloved son of Harold Violette and Georgette (Roussel) Daniel. Mike was a big advocate for the town of Madawaska, serving on several different committees, but primarily serving as town selectmen from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2006 and from July 1, 2008 to May 13, 2010. Of the eight years he was on the board, Mike served as chairman in 2005, 2008, and 2009. He was a member of the Madawaska Fire Department for twenty three years and was influential in getting the department their ladder truck. He was also a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 2638 of Madawaska. Mike also worked at Fraser Paper for twenty three years, the last three years he was a safety representative for T.O.P. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his friends at his camp in the allagash. Mike was rarely seen without his camo or orange on. Most of all, Mike loved his family and enjoyed every minute he spent with them. Mike is survived by his loving wife of twenty seven years, Sue Violette of Madawaska; one son, Adam Violette and his girlfriend Liz of Westbrook; twin daughters, Lydia Violette and her boyfriend Josh of South Portland, and Julia Violette and her boyfriend Ricky of Madawaska; his mother, Georgette and her husband Bruce Daniel of St. Jacques, New Brunswick; his father, Harold Violette and his wife Lucille of Madawaska; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He had an infectious smile and a genuine love for all people. He will be greatly missed by many people in the community. A Funeral Service will be held 10am on Monday, May 17 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Sunday. There will be no visitation on Monday morning.
