June 28, 1944 – August 1, 2022
Van Buren--- Micheline Lapointe, 78, peacefully entered into Eternal Life on Monday, August 1, 2022, at a Caribou hospital. She was born June 28, 1944, a daughter of the late Rene and Alice (Malenfant) Lebel.
Micheline worked at former J.J. Newberry Store, Van Buren, and former Madawaska Weavers Store, St. Leonard, NB, Canada, over several years, until meeting her beloved husband. She and her husband operated former B & M Coins and Sporting Goods, operating the store in Caribou and Van Buren until their retirement in the 1990s. Micheline was a devoted and life-long parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, where she participated in the parish choir and Mercy Meals following funeral services. She also assisted the parish with Vacation Bible Camp. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Van Buren, was a participant in many Cancer Walks and Relays for Life, and loved to attend her bowling leagues in the St. John Valley and in New Brunswick.
She is survived by seven siblings, Marie-Reine Michaud (Rosaire Desjardins), Geraldine Lebel (Rachelle Lavoie), Mona Levesque (Gerard), all of New Brunswick, Canada, Quentin Lebel (Ginette Desjardins-Lebel), Francine Lebel, Marco Lebel (Judy Beaulieu) and Bertrand Lebel (Madeleine Allaire), all of Quebec, Canada; her beloved Mykayla Bresett of Van Buren, who was like a daughter to her; many special godchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Micheline was predeceased by her beloved husband of almost 45 years, Robert Lapointe in 2010, and one brother, Gaston Lebel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Wednesday morning 9 AM until the time of Mass at the church. Interment will be in Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Micheline's name to: Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, c/o NMMC, 194 E. Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
