Obituary

St. Francis---Nora A. (Sturgeon) Kelley, 99, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023 at a Fort Kent health care facility.  She was born in St. John, Maine on September 11, 1923, daughter of the late Benjamin and Lydia (Brann) Sturgeon.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Gerald D. Kelley.  Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her eight siblings.  Nora loved friends dropping by to chat and always had tea and cookies to share.  Growing flowers was her favorite pastime which resulted in beautiful bouquets displayed in her home.  She kept an immaculate home and loved to cook.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.  Nora was a past member of the St. Francis Historical Society.  Nora is survived by two daughters, Sandra Kelley, and Jen Kelley and her companion, John O'Leary; her grandchildren who lovingly called her Bigmom, Michael Lyng, Christopher (Becky) Lyng, Kristen Kelly, Deirdre (Cliff) Audibert, and Jill (Steve) Tisdale; great grandchildren, Jared (Samantha) Smachetti, Alex Leclerc, Tucker and Nora Tisdale; great great granddaughter, RaeLynn Smachetti; many nieces and nephews.  Nora loved her family, as well as friends, young and old.  The family would like to especially thank Forest Hill, Dr. James Harris for his excellent care and friendship over the years, and Robert Gagnon who was a dear friend and neighbor that looked after Nora in her later years.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the St. John Protestant Cemetery in St. John.  All are welcome to attend to celebrate Nora's life.
