Obituary

Presque Isle--- Nora Yeager, 61, died March 8, 2014, at a Boston, MA, hospital due to coronary complications with her partner at her side. She was born January 3, 1953 in Washington, DC, a daughter of the late Noah and Marie (Swartz) Yeager. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1975. Nora's passion for nursing spanned over 40 years, always putting the needs of her patients and coworkers before hers. Her quiet, gentle manner calmed many patients and eased their fears while working in the ICU. Her work ethic, knowledge, and willingness to share inspired and earned the respect of those who worked beside her. She moved back to Maryland to care for her parents for the remainder of their lives before moving to Presque Isle, ME, to work and start a new adventure. One of Nora's favorite destinations was Camp on the shores of Long Lake, calling it "A Magical, Mystical, Healing Place." Whether it was watching eagles soar, wandering down an old woods road looking for wildlife, or sitting on the deck enjoying another beautiful sunset, it filled Nora with inner peace and happiness of heart. She loved being one with nature and spirit and was always in awe and appreciation no matter the season- she loved them all. Reading and music were other favorite pastimes of hers; she was perfectly content to curl up with a good book. Nora is survived by: her brother, John Yeager and his wife Linda of Fort Walton Beach, FL; a niece, Serena; and two nephews; Shawn and Christopher. She also leaves behind her partner and best friend, Dick Violette, of Clifton and Van Buren Cove, Long Lake, his daughters Beth and Kate, and granddaughter Hannah. A celebration of Nora's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Please join us in celebrating by sharing a cherished memory or story. Burial will follow in Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren.
