Van Buren--- Norman J. Corbin, 84, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou, following a long illness. He was born in Hamlin on April 15, 1929, a son of the late Frank and Isabelle (Deschaines) Corbin. He enlisted with the US Army and proudly served stateside during the Korean War. Norman worked with Great Northern Paper and Georgia Pacific's logging operations for over 25 years before his retirement in 1991. He was a life-long member of the American Legion, Post #49, Van Buren. He loved working in the woods and cutting firewood with friends and family. He is survived by: three children, Diane Oddy and her husband John of Kennebunk, Paula Wyche and her husband Richard of Riverview, FL, and Todd Corbin and his wife Leslie of Bucksport; three sisters, Elverine Vigue of Farifield, Antoinette Harris and her husband Robert of Hope Mills, NC, and Carole Pine and her husband Charles of Preque Isle; one brother, Roland Corbin and his wife Gemma of Dover-Foxcroft; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by: his wife of 53 years, Alma (Theriault) Corbin in 2009; one son, Robert Corbin; and two brothers, Adelbert and James Corbin. Funeral services will be announced in the spring. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home-Van Buren, 118 High St., Van Buren, ME.
