St. David--Norman Joseph Lagasse, 92, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at a healthcare facility in Caribou, Maine. Norman was born June 2nd 1933, in Madawaska to Ernest and Elsie (Cyr) Lagasse.
Norman attended Madawaska High school prior to enlisting and serving in the U.S. Army. In 1955, he began working at Fraser Paper Mill, where he remained employed until his retirement in 1995. In his youth, Norman enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling. He loved cooking for his large family, camping at Clover Hill Campground, planting flowers and gardening during Northern Maine's short Summers, and making everyone laugh with his sharp, dry wit.
Norman is survived by one brother, Philip (Alice) of Madawaska; four sisters, Jeannine Bragdon of Caribou; Bernadette Gendreau (Richard) of Madawaska; Joan Caron of St. Jacques NB, Marie-Jane Lagasse of Madawaska; his stepchildren and their spouses: Leo (Rina) Lagasse of Grand Isle, Roger (Nicole) Lagasse of Madawaska, Norman (Rina) Lagasse of Madawaska, Diane Daigle of FL, Tammy (Dennis) Cote of Madawaska, Elden Lagasse of NH, Gail Beaupre of Madawaska, and Jason Lagasse of Winslow, 19 grandchildren, April, Ryan, Crystal, Mindy, Sara, Kylie, Carrie, Maggie, Julie, Cindy, Alex, Curtis, Nick, Devin, Daxton, Kenan, Faith, Logan, Ashton, 12 great-grandchildren; Blake, Kinley, Kaisley, Landen, Theo, Andy, Sadie, Mason, Emmett, Karson, Riley, Dempsey and Mason, as well as many nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by his parents, wife, Marline (Beaulieu) Lagasse, brothers Joel, Leo, Richard, Camille, sister Marie, brother-in-law Gary Bragdon, sons-in-law Andrew Daigle and Alan Beaupre, as well as grandchildren Samantha & Levi Beaupre.
A funeral service in memory of Norman, will be held at 10 AM Monday, September 8th, at St. David Catholic Church. Burial will take place at 2 PM later that day at Northern Maine Veterans' Cemetery, 37 Lombard Rd, Caribou, ME 04736.
