Obituary

Frenchville--- Norman J. Nadeau, 89, peacefully entered into rest Monday, May 23, 2022, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility, with his daughters Rose and Elaine at his side. He was born July 6, 1932, in Frenchville, a son of the late Donat and Ernestine (Rossignol) Nadeau.

Norman enlisted with the US Army in 1953. While serving overseas, he asked his sister, Therese (Nadeau) Violette, to find someone from back home to write to him, to pass the time. She found Anita, who became the love of Normand's life, and they began writing to each other. After serving honorably during the Korean War, he received his honorable discharge as a Corporal in 1955, and returned to the St. John Valley to marry his love.

He was an entrepreneur and created the successful business Nadeau Septic Service, which locals fondly remember as "The Honey Wagon," and serviced the St. John Valley and parts of New Brunswick and Quebec. He took great pride in his business from 1971 until his well-deserved retirement in 1994.

He valued family and taught through example that "family ALWAYS comes first." He never hesitated to help his children, grandchildren, and siblings at the drop of a hat. Anything from babysitting, with help from Anita, of course, teaching valuable skills from everyday maintenance, faith and financial responsibility. He cherished seeing nieces and nephews during their younger years, rocking them, kidding around and teasing. As time passed, he loved when they dropped by while he was swinging in the garage and watching traffic drive by. While living in assisted living, he so valued those that took the time to visit, call or take him out, and certainly missed his years of snowmobiling and 4-wheeling.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Anita (Bouchard) Nadeau of Madawaska, formerly Frenchville; three children, Rose Michaud and her husband Chris of Madawaska, Rick Nadeau and his partner Paul Boyd of Sacramento, CA, and Elaine Jellison and her husband Wayne of Orrington; his special grandchildren, Corey (Kaylee) Michaud of Cartersville, GA, Amber Michaud of Ringgold, GA, Ryan Michaud of Chattanooga, TN, Sarah (Kristian) Philbrick of Bangor, Megan (Jacob) Powell of Frankfort, and Greg Jellison of Caribou; great grandchildren, Kamden and Kacelyn Michaud, Scarlet Philbrick & Sawyer Powell; one brother, Roger Nadeau and his wife Lorraine of Madawaska; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Norman was predeceased by his siblings, Leonel Nadeau, Patricia Natchioni, Laurien Nadeau, Yvon Nadeau, Elmo Nadeau, and Theresa Violette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Madawaska.
