Obituary

Madawaska--- Normand "Ben" Cyr, 86, passed away peacefully December 3, 2024, at a Bangor hospital, following a short illness. He was born March 14, 1938 in St. David, a son of the late Willard and Eva Cyr.

Ben last worked at Fenn Manufacturing, Newington, CT, for many years, while raising his family. Following his retirement in 2000, he and his wife relocated to his beloved hometown in the St. John Valley. He is a life member of the American Legion, Post #147, Madawaska, and enjoyed volunteering with his post to install cemetery flags during patriotic holidays. Ben and his wife were parishioners of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and assisted with several events over the years. When he wasn't working around the house, an avid hunter, Ben loved to head into the woods to try to nab a deer.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane (Bouchard) Cyr of Madawaska; three daughters, Darlene Levesque and her companion Pelo Vazquez of New Britain, CT, Kimberlie Marquis and her husband Bruce and Wanda Healey and her husband Kevin, all of Plainville, CT; six siblings, Gilman Cyr and his wife Therese of Madawaska, Sylvio Cyr and his wife Theoline, all of Madawaska, Leonard Cyr and his wife Frances, Lionel Cyr, all of Southington, CT, Bernice Ouellette and her husband Lionel of Madawaska, and Therese Levesque and her husband Rival of Edmundston, NB; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Ben was predeceased by two siblings, Verna Cyr and Richard Cyr.

The family of Normand "Ben" Cyr would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for their dedicated and compassionate support, and a special thank you to Ben's granddaughter, Amber Watts, for staying with him through the end.
