IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Normande F.
Plourde
September 24, 1927 – May 7, 2024
Normande F. Plourde, 96, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024. She was born in St. David on September 24,1927, the daughter of Frank and Delima (Daigle) Fournier. At a young age she became the caretaker of her father and her younger siblings. Remaining in St. David, she married the love of her life on July 29th, 1947, and raised their family of eight children. Her strong faith and devotion to the church led her to become an active member of several community organizations, including the Ladies of St. Anne, the Daughter of Isabella and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her time as a Board member of the Madawaska Public Library and Highview Manor as well as memberships in the Madawaska and Frenchville Historical Societies. In her later years she began to paint, and although hyper critical of her own paintings she truly enjoyed learning. In the late Sixties she started a second career working for Noella"s Dress shop where she nurtured her love of fashion and enjoyment of meeting the clientele from throughout the county. She was an avid reader and sending her a good book always brought a huge smile to her face. She is survived by her eight children: Allan (Julie) of Richmond Virginia, Karen (Phil) Levesque of St. David, Michael of Gorham, Patrice (Jim) Daigle of St. David, Elaine (Barry) Stone of Fairfield, Peter of Highlands Ranch Co. Francine (John) Akers of Centennial, Co. and Paul (Lana) of Kennebunkport. 13 Grandchildren and 18 Great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Norman in 2012 and 5 brothers and 2 sisters. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Ridgewood Estates for their excellent care of our mother during her last few years. Your love and devotion for her was greatly appreciated. We would also like to thank the ICU staff at NMMC for their kindness and compassion, not only for Normande, but also for her family during her time with them. Also, a very big thank you to Dr. Mitchell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the St. David Church. Relatives and friends may offer their condolences at the church from 9am until 9:45am on Thursday before the Mass. Interment will be held in the Parish cemetery immediately after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ridgewood Estates Activity Department, or the Madawaska or Frenchville Historical Societies. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
