Fort Kent--- Omer DuBois, aged 82, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at a Fort Kent hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 12, 1941, in Fort Kent, Maine, the cherished son of the late Leo and Delina (Michaud) DuBois.
Omer leaves behind his devoted wife of 61 years, Rella (Plourde) DuBois of Fort Kent, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is also survived by his three adoring children: Tammy Brown (Mike) of Windham, Ross DuBois (Karen) of Madawaska, and David DuBois (Joy) of Durham.
Omer found immense pride and joy in his children and celebrated their accomplishments with great enthusiasm. His greatest joy in life was found in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom he leaves behind six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Omer cherished every moment spent with them, and his love for them knew no bounds. In addition to his immediate family, Omer is survived by several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his son, Mark DuBois, in 2014, and his brothers, Elmer "Chou" DuBois and Danny DuBois.
Omer found solace and contentment in the great outdoors, particularly through his passions for fishing, hunting, and gardening. His green thumb and generosity extended beyond his garden as he was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors in need.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962 and was a proud member of the American Legion. Additionally, Omer was a third-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the Fort Kent Senior Club. He valued community and fellowship, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Northern Maine Medical Center and Omer's brother-in-law, Mike Collins, for their unwavering support and assistance during this difficult time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, May 13, 2024, at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
