Obituary

Fort Kent/Madawaska---It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our precious dad, Omer Plourde, 89.  He was born on March 11, 1934, son of the late William and Celina (St. Jean) Plourde.  His four daughters, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren (his little mushrooms) were near and dear to his heart.  He held family and friends in high regard.  He believed in hard work and was always willing to help others.  He enjoyed woodworking and was always tinkering on something.  He loved wheeling and dealing and bartering.  He loved a hearty breakfast and making a mean fruit salad and clam dip during the holidays.  He had a jolly disposition and enjoyed talking to anyone and everyone.  The old adage "Never talk to strangers" did not apply to him.  His sense of humor was unrivaled and his favorite phrases were known even to his grandchildren: "I don't see anything wrong with this", "All I want for supper is pancakes (ployes)", "My computer doesn't work like it used to," "It's got a taste of its own".  While holding up his bent-back thumb, "I agree 100%." Everytime we went for a ride in the car, " C'est vrai que'la riviere et haute," Walking out of his bedroom towards me, "You gotta read this newspaper,".  Anytime I said I would be right back, dad would say, "I'll start counting".  While watching hockey, " Jai jamais vue une game si rough".  "This is a farmer's meal."  "Wayons, wayons." Sitting in our dining room, " 'Garde-moi c'beau village."  Dad was predeceased by his wife Dolores, of 65 years; his brothers, Charles, Maurice, William (Noone); his sisters, Jeanine and Agnella (Nella).  Dad is survived by his four daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Thomas Nadeau of Bradley, Rebecca and Tom Dee of Bangor, Louise and Marc Albert of Madawaska, Bonnie and John Hand of Brewer; his brother, Gerald Plourde of New York; Dad leaves behind his ten grandchildren, Tiffany Lolar, Ryan Nadeau, and Valery Scanlon, Alyssa Poirier and Nathan Dee, Jacques and Chanelle Albert, Samantha Webb, John Bradley and Shannon Hand; also his thirteen great-grandchildren, Savanna, Colin, and Cooper Lolar, Bronson, Leona, and Arden Nadeau, Molly, Aliza, and Dylan Scanlon, Greyson Albert, Mason and Mila Hand,  and Delaney Webb; many nieces and nephews, near and far who loved him dearly.  Our deepest gratitude to Louise and Marc for the care and compassion they gave our dad for the last three years.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the St. Louis Church in Fort Kent.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
