Obituary

Limestone – Patricia B. Watson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and educator, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, in St. Agatha . She was 79.  Born on February 22, 1946, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, Pat was the daughter of Donald and Myrtle MacWhinnie and one of twelve children in a close-knit family. She was raised in Madawaska, where she graduated from Madawaska High School before going on to earn her degree in education from the University of Maine at Fort Kent.  Pat devoted her life to education and nurturing others. She taught with dedication and compassion at Damon Elementary, as well as in the Limestone and Caribou school districts. Alongside her teaching career, she raised two children, instilling in them a love of learning, kindness, and resilience.  Known for her warmth, creativity, and quiet strength, Pat found joy in the simple pleasures of life—family gatherings, painting, wood carving, and spending peaceful days at the family camp on Long Lake. An avid reader, she shared her love of books through volunteering at the local Limestone Frost Library and treasured the camaraderie of annual reunions with her fellow retired teachers.  Pat was predeceased by her parents, her brother Clifford MacWhinnie, and her sister Rosalind Loisel.  She is lovingly remembered by her children, William Ossenfort and fiancée Holly Anderson of Dover-Foxcroft, and Dawn DePriest of Spokane, Washington; her husband, Keith Watson of Westfield, and his sons David and Stephen; her cherished grandchildren, Joshua and Samantha Ossenfort; her sisters Joanna Gardner and husband John of W. Gloucester, Nena and husband Charles Mims of Madawaska, Margaret Donovan of St. Agathe, and Cindy Michael of New Sweden; and her brothers Rodney MacWhinnie and wife Rolande of Madawaska, David MacWhinnie of Madawaska, James MacWhinnie of Brunswick, Mike MacWhinnie and wife Dawn of Spring Hill, FL, and Gary MacWhinnie of Poland.  Family meant everything to Pat. Whether near or far, she celebrated the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends with boundless love and pride.  A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 29th at 10:00 AM at the St. Thomas Church in Madawaska.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
