Obituary

Madawaska---Paul Emile Albert, 87, passed away January 16, 2011 at St. Joseph Nursing Home, where over the past seven years, he was lovingly cared for. He was born in St. David on September 8, 1923, the son of Emile and Flavie (Rossignol) Albert. Paul left high school in 1943 to join the Army and served overseas for twenty four months in the European Theatre of Operations with the 552nd Artillery Battalion during World War II. After the war, he returned home to complete high school and attend the University of Maine, where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1950. He worked at Fraser Paper Limited as a Cost Accountant for twenty three years and afterwards, went on to work for the Farm Bureau Insurance Services for over twenty years. He served on the Parish Council at St. Thomas Aquinas Church for two years. Paul is survived by his loving wife of sixty two years, Rita (Guimond) Albert, four sons, Donald and his companion Jimmy Roberts of Washington, DC, Roger and his wife Joan of Madawaska, Carl and his wife Victoria also of Madawaska, Gary and his companion Chris Lucera of Boston, MA; one daughter, Janice Fortin and her husband Dan of Madawaska; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; three brothers, Leonard Albert of California, Guy Albert of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Ronald Albert and his wife Adrienne of Madawaska; two sisters, Lucille Violette of Miami, AZ, and Eugenie Hetorilla of Cromwell, CT. He was predeceased by one brother, Claude Albert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Thursday, January 19 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Wednesday and from 9am until time of service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul's memory may be made to St. Joseph Nursing Home Activity fund, P.O. Box 469, Frenchville, ME 04745.
