Van Buren--- Paul Cote, 92, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 16, 2017. He was born December 16, 1924 in Salem, MA, a son of the late Paul and Marie (Rioux) Cote, and was raised in Drummond, NB, Canada.
Paul was a self-employed carpenter and contractor for his entire life in Van Buren, building many area homes and buildings. In addition, his skills for finish carpentry were well known and built many kitchens and furniture throughout the years. In his limited spare time he enjoyed playing his French music, taking long rides, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He and his wife recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with his loving children and family at his side.
He is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Azilda (Pelletier) Cote of Van Buren; five children, Herby Cote and his wife Dorothy, Pauline Cote, Daniel Cote and his wife Bab, all of Van Buren, Louis Cote and his wife Linda of Sacramento, CA, and Lea Ayotte and her husband Steve of Standish; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Paul is predeceased by two children, Joan and Ivan Cote, and ten siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Wednesday 6-8:00 PM and Thursday morning 9-10:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
