IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul
Martin
May 7, 1935 – December 28, 2020
Eagle Lake--Paul Martin, 85, passed away December 28, 2020. He was born in Eagle Lake on May 7, 1935, the son of Frank and Edwidge Martin. After attending school in Eagle Lake and then Fort Kent he began his career as a mechanic, eventually opening his own garage doing car repairs and selling Evinrude motors. Paul loved his hometown of Eagle Lake, where he lived his entire life. He was involved in town politics and administration and was eventually asked to become director of the new Eagle Lake waste treatment plant after its construction. He served as superintendent of the town Water and Sewer department until his retirement in 1997. Paul was a lifelong outdoorsman, hunter, and angler. As a boy he would borrow his father's work horse and venture out on camping trips into the woods. In high school he built a hunting camp on his family's land in Eagle Lake and was proud to feed his family with what he brought home. He would later enjoy sharing his passion for the outdoors on that same land with his children and grandchildren. Most of all, Paul loved his family. He was a devoted husband and a loving, generous father who was always willing to help by sharing his time and expertise. After retirement he bought a camp on the shore of Eagle Lake where he enjoyed spending time with his wife, listening to the loons. He was predeceased by his siblings, Fernando, Cecil, Camille, Lucien, Lorette, Antoinette and Michael and great grandson Tanner Marquis. He is survived by his wife Rita; his brother John Martin; his four children, Susan Pratt, Gary Martin, Lucy Devoe and Allen Martin; as well as seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Due to the current pandemic a memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
