IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter
Saucier
August 18, 1958 – May 19, 2024
Fort Kent---Peter Saucier, age 65, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a fairly short and courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to all who knew him.
There wasn't a moment where his family doubted that he could put food on the table, through farming, fishing and hunting, and a safe roof over their heads, through his talent to build, adapt and "patante". He loved going up to camp and spending quality time with his family and friends. He put his whole heart into putting others' needs ahead of his own. Even in his last days he was able to make decisions that would be the best for "his girls".
Peter was a man of service within his community. He was a devoted knight of the Fort Kent Knights of Columbus, Council 1934. He held many roles in the Knights of Columbus organization. Many knew Peter as the friendly face across the bar as the bar manager for the KC Hall.
Peter served on numerous boards and committees including the Acadia Federal Credit Union, Town Council, Fort Kent Public Library. He also served in many roles within the St. John Vianney Parish. He most recently became an ambassador for PALS SkyHope.
Peter, also known as Mr. Pete, has spent the past 30 years serving the families and the children of SAD 27 as the Director of Facilities and Transportation. He has insured the safety of our youth while being a beloved coworker to many.
Peter was most proud of the precious family that meant the world to him. He especially treasured the moments he spent with his grandchildren. His Sunday night dinners were the highlight of every week. He had a crafty hand when it came to cooking and entertaining, and he made sure that no one ever left with room for even just one more bite.
Peter is survived by his wife, Diane (Labrie) Saucier, of 46 years, his daughters, Angela and her husband, Jason Landeen, Jill and her husband, Benjy Jandreau, his grandchildren Colby, Kaden, William, Amelia, Maggie and Jacob, his siblings Jerry (Janice) Saucier, Rachael Lavertu, Priscilla (Claude) Morin, Oreen (Diana) Saucier and Raymond (Mary) Saucier, many special sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, Hilaire Saucier and Jeanette (Marin) Saucier as well as his sister, Madeline Courtois.
Though he may no longer be with us in person, the memories of Peter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His love, laughter, and legacy of generosity will be cherished for generations to come.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the St. Louis Church. Relatives and friends may offer their condolences at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday. There will be no visiting hours the morning of the funeral. Donations may be made in Peter's honor to the Edgar J Paradis Cancer Fund, c/o NMMC, 194 E. Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743, as well as PALS SkyHope, 7110 Republic Airport, 2nd Floor, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
