Fort Kent--- Phelda (Plourde) Blier, 90, left this earth for her heavenly home on Friday, May 2, 2025. She was born December 26, 1934, in Fort Kent, the first born of 14 children to the late Josepha and Edwina (Charette) Plourde.
Phelda foremost considered herself a mom and housewife who loved to cook. She last worked for SAD #27 as a teacher's aide working with children with special needs. She found this work to be the most rewarding and enjoyable.
She was a longtime member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne and was their past president for 12 years. She was awarded Mother of the Year in 1993. Phelda also served on the Church Life Commission and managed the parish store for several years. She was instrumental in starting the after-funeral meals and managed it for 3 years. Phelda's spiritual life was important to her, and she enjoyed many retreats and prayer groups, and she also was a member of the prayer hotline.
She married her husband of 71 years, Clarence "Noir" Blier, who passed in 2024. Together they had five sons, and she leaves behind Allen Blier and his wife Arlene of Fort Kent, Michael Blier of Grapevine, TX, and Gary Blier and his wife Sandy of Blaine, WA.
Phelda is also survived by six grandchildren, Shelly Deprey of Fort Kent, Kayla Cross of WA, Elizabeth Blier of MA, Cody Blier of WA, Nathan Blier of TX & Jerod Blier of WA, who miss her greatly; four great grandchildren, Sawyer Deprey of Fort Kent, Colton Stewart, Maia Stewart and Paxton Blier, all of WA; siblings, Edward Plourde and his wife Rose of Fort Kent, Danny Plourde of Florida, Maynard Plourde and his wife Diane of Fort Kent, Jeff Plourde and his wife Collette of Fort Kent, and Millie Plourde of Edmundston; and many nieces and nephews
Besides her husband and parents, Phelda was predeceased by two sons, Bruce Blier in 1969 and Joel Blier in 1998, four brothers, Elmer, Leonard, Eldon, and Roger Plourde, and four sisters, Velma Caron, Gloria Caron, Linda Ouellette, and Tina Thibodeau.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Relatives and friends may greet the family Tuesday evening 6-8:00 PM and Wednesday morning 8:30 – 9:30AM at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phelda's name may be made to: St. Louis Church, 26 E. Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
