Obituary

Philip (Babe) Leonard, age 74, passed away unexpectedly May 16, 2020. He was born November 18, 1945 in Grand Isle to Malcolm and Azlida Leonard. He married his highschool sweetheart, Kathleen (Cyr) Leonard, in November of 1968 who preceded him in death in 2016.  He worked at Fraser Paper, and retired with plans to spend time enjoying his grandchildren, gardening, and golfing.  Babe was a devoted father and grandfather.  He lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; sitting with friends in his garage in the Summer, helping others with their driveways in the Winter, and spending time with his family.  He was always ready to volunteer and gave freely of his time.  He was an avid golfer, enjoyed working in his garden, and going to watch Blizzard hockey games with his partner, Jeannine.  He was so thankful to have his daughter, Donna, watch over him after losing his wife.  The thing he loved the most in life, were his two grandsons, Nathan and Noah.  They were his pride and joy, and he was so proud of them.  He loved to cook for crowds, especially using his giant homemade BBQ grills.  Babe was the comedian of the bunch, leaving his family and friends a collective sense of loss as we recall all the moments, jokes, and gags that always left us smiling.  He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. Babe is survived by his daughter Donna Leonard, and her fiance Nicholas Deprey of St. David; his partner Jeannine Bourgoin of Madawaska; his grandchildren, Nathan Levesque of Biddeford, and Noah Deprey of St. David; his sisters, Lorraine Theriault, Tracey Leonard; and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.  He is predeceased by his parents; his wife, Kathleen (Cyr) Leonard; and his daughter Karen (Leonard) Bourgoin. In light of the current situation with Covid-19, the family has chosen to do a memorial mass and celebration of Babe's life at an indefinite point in the future when it is safe for family and friends to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Mizpah would be greatly appreciated in his name, sent to PO Box 216 Grand Isle, ME 04746.
