ST. FRANCIS -- Phoebe (McBreairty) Morrison, 88, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 26, 2020. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 65 years, Merton, sons Warren of St. Francis, ME; James of Miami, FL; daughter Julie, son-in-law Kelly Mauldin, and grandson, Nathan, of Stone Mountain, GA. She was predeceased by her son, Randall, in 1999. She also fostered Janet (Skidgel) Morrison and Connie (Skidgel) Searles through their formative years. Born January 15th, 1932, daughter of Addison and Mina (Kelly) McBreairty of Allagash, Phoebe is survived by an older brother, Maynard McBreairty, of Woodstock, New Brunswick, and younger sister, Vaughn Hubert, of Portland, Maine. Known by all that knew her as a gentle and kind soul, Phoebe devoted her life to her Church, The St. John Bible Church, and its teachings. And true to her beliefs, she selflessly gave, always putting others first. Growing up in Allagash, she thrived helping her mother feed local lumbermen in the woods during the winters and fostering close, life-long friendships in the area. She worked outside of the home both in Caribou and Portland to support her parents before settling in St. Francis. Intensely dedicated to her family, she supported the family farm from driving trucks to tending her gardens. Though primarily focused on her role as homemaker, Phoebe would always look forward to traveling when opportunities arose - visiting from Newfoundland to Florida over the years. Always looking to expand her interests, she also found time to take up ceramic classes, introductory medical courses and enjoyed quilting and knitting. She was also known far and wide for her baked bread and homemade donuts. She loved laughter and sought to maintain cheer and joy in everything she did and everyone she befriended. Her caring warm heart, delightful humor and innocence will always be remembered and missed. In lieu of funeral services, the family will observe a private graveside committal in June. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
