Hamlin & Levant--- Rachel A. Levasseur, 95, passed away peacefully June 28, 2025, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born January 20, 1930 in Edmundston, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Robert and Annie (Beaulieu) Boucher.
Rachel married the love of her life, Rene, in 1955, and together they raised their loving family and cared for the family farm. She loved picking the many berries around the farm when the potato harvest was over, which she proudly could load over 90 barrels a day! During her later years, she enjoyed attending BINGO and tending to her many needlepoint crafts. Rachel was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and volunteered many hours with her husband by visiting at Borderview Rehab.
She is survived by two children, Joan Ramsay of Addison and Rick T. Levasseur and his wife Julie of Levant; one daughter-in-law, Terry Levasseur; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Trisha, Jacob, Andrew, Ranee and Scott; three great grandchildren, Cara, Shawn and Elana; a brother, George Boucher and his wife Pat of Ste. Basile, NB; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Rachel was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Rene Levasseur, in 2014, a son, Robert Levasseur, a grandson, Shawn Levasseur, two brothers, Jacques and Rival Boucher, and three sisters, Georgette Scher, Jacqueline Levesque, and infant Mariette Boucher
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, July 7, 2025, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. To share condolences online, please visit www.LajoieFuneralHome.com
