Ashland--- Rachel A. Pinette, 76, died Tuesday evening, December 4, 2018, following a long illness. She was born October 1, 1942 in Ashland, a daughter of the late Minot and Violet (McGauhy) Bragdon.
Rachel worked as a gatekeeper for several years with North Maine Woods, Portage Gate, until dedicating herself to caring for her husband and children. She enjoyed tending her flower garden, playing puzzles and working on canvas crafts, but she never hesitated to follow her husband and children into the North Woods for some good ol' hunting and fishing. The Pinette family wishes to sincerely thank Rachel's very special granddaughter, Fay Camp, who assisted greatly with Rachel's care and comfort.
She is survived by: her husband of almost 60 years, Reginald J. Pinette of Ashland; five children, Tim Pinette and his companion Lisa Starks of Soldier Pond, Tammy O'Clair and her husband Steve, Larry Pinette and his wife Peggy, Greg Pinette and his companion Wanda Holmes, and Lori Cray and her husband Doug, all of Ashland; four siblings, Clifford Bragdon, Natalie Maynard, Ada Ellis and Betty Ellis; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
Besides her parents, Rachel was predeceased by a granddaughter, Darcy Pinette, and four siblings, Thurston, Allen, and Aubrey Bragdon and Julia Ellis.
A Celebration of Rachel's Life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Town of Portage Community Center. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland.
