Madawaska---J. Raoul Marquis, 87, passed away on November 8, 2010 at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born in St. Agatha on July 12, 1923, the son of the late Donat and Anais (Michaud) Marquis. Raoul was a U.S. Merchant Marine World War II Veteran. He was a member of Thomas O. Cyr Legion post no. 147 of Madawaska and a third degree member Knights of Columbus Council # 2638 also of Madawaska. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Georgette (Neveu) Marquis of Madawaska; three sons, George Marquis and his wife Doris of Fulton, Miss., Jacques Marquis and his wife Janie of Madawaska, and Charles Marquis and his wife Patricia of Seattle, WA; five grandchildren, Danielle, Marie, Joseph and his wife Kiki of Fulton, Miss., Jeffrey and Aaron Marquis of Madawaska; two brothers, Bertrand and his wife Cecile of CT, Richard and his wife Marge of MA; four sisters, Norma and her husband James of St. Simons Island, GA, Jeannine and her husband James of CA, Dorothy Marquis of Winslow, ME, Jacquie and her husband Thomas also of Winslow. He was predeceased by three brothers, Roland, Reneau, and Normand, and by one sister, Marie Larochelle. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Contributions in Raoul's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
