Obituary

Madawaska--- Raymond Barfield Sr., 80, passed away April 1, 2017, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility. He was born January 27, 1937 in Apalachicola, FL, of the late Ernest and Caroline (Scott) Barfield.

He served seven years with the US Air Force and transferred to the US Army National Guard for over 20 years. He worked many years with Frasier Paper until his retirement in 1999. Ray was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved to visit Florida to see family and friends and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by: one son, Raymond Barfield, Jr. and his wife April of North Waterboro; three grandchildren, Katie Wallace and her companion Dave Levesque of Madawaska, Chrystal Barfield of Mechanic Falls, and Alyssa Barfield of North Waterboro; three great grandchildren, Valentina, Brianna, and Alexis Levesque of Madawaska; two sisters, Nora Everette of Georgia and Shirley Nixon of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine (Cyr) Barfield in 2016, two sons, Michael and Danny, and three siblings, Elmedia Sumner, David Barfield, and Claudie Polous.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska.  Family and friends may offer their condolences at the church 9am until 9:45am Friday morning before the service.  Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
