Portage Lake & Presque Isle--- Raymond F. Chasse, 86, peacefully entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, September 23, 2020. He was born August 25, 1934 in St. Agatha, one of ten children born of the late Ernest "Pete" and Eva (Michaud) Chasse.

Ray worked almost 40 years at Pinkham Lumber Mill, retiring as a yard foreman in 2006. He was a life member and former Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assembly, Portage/Ashland, and was a life-long parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Ray was an avid fisherman and hunter, spending many days and nights scoping out his favorite woods and waters around his beloved Portage Lake. He absolutely cherished visiting with his children and grandchildren, never missing their sporting events, and even watching and re-watching his wife's recorded play-by-plays.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 65 years, Fern (Maynard) Chasse of Presque Isle, formerly of Portage; two children, Peter Chasse and his wife Ann of Ashland and Nancy Beaulieu and her husband Randy of Mapleton; two brothers, Ronald Chasse and his wife Sharon of Wrightville and David Chasse and his wife Mary Ellen of Ashland; five grandchildren, Brandon, Nikki, Mindy, Whitney and Travis; seven great grandchildren; and many special nieces, nephews and five God Children.

Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by five brothers, Phillip, Clarence, Gilbert, Richard, and June Chasse, and two sisters, Cecile Rafford and Theresa Casey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately by Ray's family due to COVID-19 restrictions. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland.
