Madawaska---Real W. Russell, 88, passed away on September 27, 2021, at a Madawaska health care facility. He was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick on December 9, 1932, son of the late Wilfred and Noella (Lagace) Russell.  Real served in the United States Navy for four years.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Madawaska.  He worked at Fraser Paper for 38 years until his retirement in 1993. Real is survived by two daughters, Ann Marie Russell and her companion Rick Ouellette of Connor, Elaine Clavette of Madawaska; four sons, Charles Russell and his wife Helene "Lee" of New York, David Russell and his wife Denise of Madawaska, Robert Russell and his wife Michelle of Madawaska, Philip Russell and his wife Linda of Madawaska; eleven grandchildren, Jason Russell and his wife Amy of Florida, Rebecca Russell of Thomaston, Joshua Pelletier and his wife Melanie of South Carolina, Ryan Ouellette of Connor, Matthew Russell and his wife Meghan of Caribou, Travis Pelletier and his wife Danika of Van Buren, Scott Russell of Madawaska, Jessica Russell of Madawaska, Jesse and Dylan Clavette of Madawaska, Jared Cook of Presque-Isle, Laura Boswell and her husband Eric of North Carolina; seventeen great-grandchildren;  three sisters, Lucille Boucher of Lisbon, Lucienne DeMontigny and her husband Earl of Florida, Julie Charette and her husband Roger of Madawaska; two brothers, Hudo Russell and his wife Colette of Madawaska, Maurice Russell of Madawaska; two sisters-in-law, Jeannine Michaud of Lisbon, Marie Gross and her husband Bernie of Florida; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Irma (Deschaine) Russell; a son-in-law, Gene Clavette; his brother, Valmond Russell.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church.  Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Thursday. There will be no visiting hours the morning of the service.
