Madawaska - Reginald Clavette, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Friday May 17, 2024 at the age of 93. He was born on August 23, 1930 in Grand Isle, Maine, son of the late Ludger and Carmen Clavette.  He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Loretta Clavette of Madawaska. They raised four children; Real Clavette (predeceased), Gloria Morin and her partner Jeannot Damboise, Gerald Clavette and his wife Patti, Melisa Poitras and her husband Marco. They were blessed with four grandchildren; Chad Morin, Alain Morin and his wife Katie, Nicholas Poitras, Dominic Poitras, and two great-grandchildren; Amelia Morin and Julienne Morin.  As a young man raised on a potato farm he learned early on the importance of hard work. He enjoyed nature and fishing, and over the years became an avid gardener. Finding the first cucumber in his garden each year became an event grandchildren looked forward to. As an early riser, he enjoyed the peacefulness of his morning walks for as long as his body would allow. His family has fond memories of Sunday drives on country roads or scenic routes followed by family picnics. Although many would describe him as a quiet man he was known to enjoy his fair share of pranks. Known amongst his family for being a collector of odds and ends, he always had whatever you were missing to get the job done. With a strong faith in God, he was a beacon of strength and source of endless love. His wisdom guided us through both joy and sorrow. As we bid him farewell we hold tight to the memories shared and the lessons learned. We honor him with gratitude and love.  Reginald was the oldest of fifteen siblings. Gilman Clavette and wife Rachel (both predeceased), Herby Clavette (predeceased) and wife Ramona, Yvette Chasse (predeceased), Reed Clavette (predeceased) and wife Rita, Renard Clavette and wife Loretta, Dorothy Boutot and husband Gabriel (predeceased), Nancy Pelletier, Gilmay Duquette and husband Yvon (predeceased), Patsy Levesque, Guy Clavette and wife Kathy, Claude Clavette, Linda Devoe and husband Charlie, Diane Clavette, Carol Clavette (predeceased) and Gene Clavette.  Our family extends a heartfelt thanks to the healthcare professionals at Forest Hill Nursing Home for their care and commitment to Reginald over the past few years.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday May 24 at the St Thomas Church. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday evening, May 23 from 6-8pm at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 10th Ave., Madawaska.
