Obituary

Madawaska--- Reginald "Babe" Gagnon, 84, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at a Fort Kent hospital. He was born April 29, 1933 in Madawaska, a son of the late Hampy and Annette (Michaud) Gagnon.
Babe enlisted with the US Navy during the Korean War, serving overseas on the Midway aircraft carrier, and was a long-time member of the American Legion. Upon his return to Madawaska, he worked at the Fraser Paper Mill for over 39 years. He was an avid traveler, enjoyed many visits to Florida, and especially loved to take bus tours. When he wasn't visiting his family, friends and his favorite granddaughter, Babe liked to feed the ducks, squirrels and other wildlife.
He is survived by: one son, Andy Gagnon and his wife Kathy of E. Hampstead, NH; one granddaughter, whom he adored, Jessica; four brothers, James Gagnon of Madawaska, Jean "John" Gagnon of Nashua, NH, Bob Gagnon and his wife Diane of Easton, and Dan Gagnon and his wife Michele of Belfast; his companion, Joan Sirois of Madawaska; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Babe is predeceased by his wife Gilla (Nadeau) Gagnon in 2000, and three brothers, Clifford, Gerald, and Reynold Gagnon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska, followed by military honors. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning, 9-9:45 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10 Ave., Madawaska. Burial will be private in Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
