Grand Isle & Van Buren--- Rena R. Violette, 70, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 31, 2018, with her family by her side, after a short battle with brain cancer. She was born January 28, 1948 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Rene J. and Sadie (Langlais) Lebel, and she was a graduate of Van Buren High School, Class of 1967.
Following high school, Rena attended Bernard School of Hair in Lewiston, ME. She married the love of her life, Rene Violette. They were happily married over 50 years. During her earlier years, Rena worked for former Sprague Electric, owned and operated Rena's Golden Comb beauty salon, worked for Rossignol Ski Co. (Simplex), and was a hairdresser for the residents at former Borderview Manor. She was a former CNA-M at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou and developmental trainer at L'Acadie, Van Buren, for over 25 years, where she enjoyed and loved her clients over the years. She was always a hard and dedicated worker and rarely stopped. Rena was also a true animal lover and will be missed by her Australian Shepherd, Skipper, and her three cats, Bell, Tom, and Pit.
A big thank you to the staff of Cary Medical Center, in the ACU and ER departments, and the Northern Light Home Health Hospice for all their dedicated compassion and support.
She is survived by: the love of her life and husband of over 50 years, Rene O. Violette of Grand Isle; one son, Randy Violette and his wife Donna of Caribou; two grandsons, Dylan Violette and Josh Fraser; a brother, Alfred "Chou" Lebel and his wife Lou of Brewer; two sisters, Carline Berube of Van Buren and Maxine Akerley and her husband Kenneth of St. Leonard, NB, Canada; a brother-in-law, Valerien "Bill" Violette and his wife Maxine of Belmont, NH; several other in-laws; and many nieces , nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her parents-in-law, Valerien and Anne Violette, brother-in-law, Roger G. Berube, and a nephew, Brent Lebel.
At Rena's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rena's name may be made to: Jefferson Cary Foundation c/o Cary Medical Center, 163 Van Buren Rd., Caribou, ME 04736. Arrangements were a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren
