Obituary

Renaud J. Pelletier, 96, passed away peacefully in Fort Kent, Maine on February 21, 2025. He was born in Daigle, ME on May 3, 1928. He was the son of the late Leo K. and Pauline (Pelletier) Pelletier. He was raised on the family homestead in Daigle. Renaud with Irma Pelletier (Daigle), his devoted wife of 75 years, raised their family in this same community. He is survived by his ten children, Gloria Pelletier of Fort Kent, Sharon Ouellette of Fort Fairfield, Peter Pelletier of Belgrade, Robert Pelletier of North Berwick, Thomas Pelletier of Winston-Salem NC, Debra Jett of Mesa, AZ, Ray Pelletier of Madawaska, Jay Pelletier of Augusta, Dennis Pelletier of Madawaska, and Jennifer Bannen of Fort Kent; 22 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.  Renaud took great pride in his work as a woodsman and a successful potato grower. His commitment was a testament to his hard work, integrity, and dedication to his family and his community. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling across the United States with his beloved Irma. He also had a great joy for motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, and gathering with family and friends. His adventurous spirit and zest for life left a lasting impression on all people he encountered. Renaud was proud of his French Acadian roots. He had a gift to recount stories of the past with humorous and playful embellishments that left you wondering. His strong presence and love will be missed.  Renaud was a dedicated parishioner of Holy Family Church until its closure and then a parishioner of St. John Vianney Parish. He was a longtime, 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. He was also recognized by various organizations for his agricultural achievements.  He leaves behind three sisters, Reina Michaud of Rye, NH, Joan Ramo of Caribou, Louise Platt of Fort Kent; one brother, Jim Pelletier of Fort Kent; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Leo "June" Pelletier.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the St. Louis Church. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, February 26 at the Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home. There will be no visiting hours on Thursday before the Mass.
