Obituary

Clair, N.B --- Reno Lagasse, 83, passed away on February 19, 2020 at an Edmundston, N.B. healthcare facility. He was born on June 28, 1936, son of the late Edmund and Cecile (Guerrette) Lagasse. Reno, despite never having graduated from high school, was a very successful business and store owner for 30 plus years. Reno prided himself in giving back to his community and being part of many local organizations; JC's, the Knights of Columbus, and the Lions Club, serving all for over 40 years. Reno was a driving force behind many Lion's projects; the local murals, the gazebo in Riverside Park, the phone book project, and well as portraying the character Crazy Guggenheim in the Lion's Minstrel Show. If you were looking for Reno, you could always find him at the Fort Kent Golf Course. Having a passion for music, he was a self-taught drummer and was a member of his band, Reno's Trio. Reno is survived by his loving wife, Jeannine (Levesque) Lagasse of Clair N.B.; four children, Darlene Plourde and her companion Wayne Deschaine of Fort Kent, Pam Bard and her husband Joey of Fort Kent, Randy Lagasse and his wife Kristen of Presque Isle, and Kerry Lagasse and his wife Sara of Madawaska; four step-children, Lise Saucier and her husband Bill of Baker-Brook, N.B., Jean-Francois Levesque of Edmundston, N.B., Pierre-Paul "Paulo" Levesque and his wife Maryse of Edmundston, N.B., Marie-Josee Michaud and her husband Michel of Clair, N.B.; seven grandchildren, Charles, Thomas, Samuel, Emily, Chuck, Ellie, and Abigail; six step-grandchildren, Julie, Stephanie, Patrick, Sophie, Mathieu, and Kristine; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Julia, Braxton, and May; four step-great- grandchildren, Mathis, Maeva, Alexia, and Eliane; seven siblings, Joan Chasse and her husband Maurice, Roland Lagasse and his wife Ellen, Sandra Plourde and her husband June, Robert "Bob" Lagasse and his wife Yvette, Judy Johnson and her husband Loren, Mary Ann Boucher and her husband Reno, and Mike Lagasse and his wife Dottie. Reno is predeceased by one brother, Lawrence Lagasse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the St. Louis Church in Fort Kent. Family and friends may call from 9-9:45 at the church the morning of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions in Reno's memory may be made to the Fort Kent Golf Club: Youth Program at 354 St John Rd, PO Box 436, Fort Kent, ME 04743, or to a charity of their choosing.
