Fort Kent, ME and Delray Beach, FL – Reno Ouellette, age 89, died from heart/kidney complications, on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Northern Maine Medical Center. He leaves his wife of 68 years, Doris (Martin) Ouellette; his daughter, Susan Linehan and her husband Paul of Sharon, MA; and son, Steven and his wife Sandy of Eagle Lake, ME. He also leaves his siblings, Leopold "Paul" Ouellette of Lake Wales, FL, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Madore of Southington, CT; five grandchildren, David, Matthew, Patrick, Curtis and Christina; great-grandchildren Isaiah, Kyleigh, Elijah, Emersyn, and Hadley; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Fort Kent, son of the late Wilfred "Fred" and Rose (Roy) Ouellette. He was predeceased by his son, David, his brother Roger, and sisters Rena and Claire. He was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, RI, in 1949, and the University of Maine at Orono, in 1951. In 1953, Reno and Doris married, and shortly thereafter he was drafted into the Army to serve in the 633 rd Engineer 8 th Army ICORE in Ouijubu, Korea. Soon after his military service, Reno started in business as a salesman for Frank Martin Sons, Inc. under the mentorship of his father-in-law, Antonio "Tony" Martin. After purchasing the business from Tony, Reno and Doris partnered in continuing to grow Frank Martin Sons, Inc., a forestry and construction equipment dealership, into a thriving enterprise. Their legacy continued under the leadership of their children, Dave and Steve. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. Reno was always eager to return home from Florida in time for early Spring fishing in the Fish River. Reno also went on many fishing excursions with friends to Alaska for King Salmon and Halibut. He enjoyed spending time at his "camps" in St. Pamphile and in Eagle Lake, ME, where he entertained family and friends. Reno especially liked to bring visitors for long, slow boat rides around Eagle Lake with country or easy listening music playing in the background. He travelled extensively throughout North America with Doris accompanied by their regular travel companions, Roger and Carole Martin. He also cherished his weekly "board meetings" at the Lakeview Restaurant with his friends John Daigle, Jim Daigle, Jim Roy and Rudy Pelletier. A special thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff in the Northern Maine Medical Center "Swing Unit," for the dedication, compassion and love that they gave Reno and family members during his final weeks.
