Van Buren--- Reno J. Thibodeau, 73, died Monday evening, December 31, 2018, at a Caribou hospital. He was born June 12, 1945 in Van Buren, a son of the late Felix and Catherine (Thivierge) Thibodeau.
He graduated from Van Buren Boys High School in 1963 and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from University of Maine-Orono. Reno last worked at L'Acadie, Van Buren, in the kitchen and maintenance departments, until his retirement in 2008. Previously, he worked for Saucier's IGA, Van Buren, and many years in the Bangor area. He was a former volunteer for the Van Buren Fire Department. A generous person, Reno loved to bake bread and cookies for local events, camps, his family, and friends. He could constantly be seen walking and driving the streets of Van Buren, always offering a friendly smile and wave to anyone who passed by. He will be lovingly remembered as "Uncle Reno" by many that knew him.
He is survived by: a sister, Omerine Lapointe of Van Buren; two brothers, Norman Thibodeau and his wife Mary Lou of Gainesville, FL, and Elmer Thibodeau and his wife Donna of Bristol, CT; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Nelson Thibodeau and Felix Thibodeau Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Tuesday 6-8:00 PM and Wednesday morning 8:30-9:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in St. Bruno Cemetery
