Obituary

Portage Lake--- Richard T. Bragdon Sr., 87, died Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. He was born September 1, 1929 in Portage, a son of the late Evelyn Richards.
Richard enlisted with the US Army and served on the front lines during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of the Ashland VFW and Presque Isle DAV. He worked with Pinkham and Crafton Mills, Ashland, for over 30 years. Richard enjoyed spending his time with his wife and sons, but also appreciated many fishing trips on Portage Lake with his friends Ellis Gagnon and the late Arnold Gagnon, or a quick hunting trip into the North Maine Woods.
He is survived by: his loving wife of over 54 years, Betty (Jandreau) Bragdon of Presque Isle; two devoted sons, Leonard Bragdon of Presque Isle and Richard Bragdon Jr. of Caribou; and several cousins.
Besides his mother, Richard is predeceased by those who assisted greatly in his raising, his grandfather, Gilbert Bragdon, and great grandmother, Lydia Duffy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Portage Lake. Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Tuesday evening 6-8:00 PM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland. Burial with military honors will be in Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery.
