Obituary

Van Buren--- Richard J. Lapointe, 74, peacefully passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, following a long illness. He was born in Van Buren on April 7, 1951, a son of the late Chester and Mamie (Sirois) Lapointe.

Richard last worked with Van Buren Water District for many years. Previously he worked various jobs in and around Van Buren and several farms. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Third Degree, Van Buren. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing the local woods and waters but his favorite times were getting the family together to play cards late into the evenings reminiscing.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nicole (Lebrun) Lapointe of Van Buren; three siblings, Mike Lapointe and his wife Christine of Van Buren, Geneva Cole and her husband Gordon of Massachusetts, and Marlene Maldonado and her husband Ramon of Van Buren; many friends and extended relatives; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by four siblings, Patrick Lapointe, Joseph Lapointe, Elmer Lapointe, and Claudette Lapointe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday morning 9 – 9:45 AM at the church. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
