Ashland--- Richard "Dick" Morris, Sr., 76, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 10, 2015. He was born June 30, 1938 in Ashland, a son of the late Douglas Morris and Ruby Bumpus. Dick worked as a hand sewer with GH Bass, Wilton, for over 33 years. Previously he worked with the Wilton Tannery for several years. He was also the former Fire Chief of No. Chesterville Fire Department, Maine. He enjoyed puttering around his workshop and doing auto body repair. A man of many talents, Dick was an avid woodworker, crafting many furniture pieces for his home and friends. When mood would strike, he enjoyed taking up a brush to create oil paintings or light his forge for a new blacksmithing project. He is survived by: his wife of 54 years, Betty (Daggett) Morris of Ashland; four children, Rick Morris Jr. of Farmington, Sheralyn Morris and her companion Jason Bouchard of T9 R8, Michael Morris and his fiancé Wendy Palmer of Farmington, and Nikki Libby and her husband Wilbur Jr. of Eddington; one brother, Robert Morris of Farmington, MO; one step-sister, Marie Lawerence of Woodstock, NB, Canada; four grandchildren, David, Jeremy, Brandon and Nicolas; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Dick is predeceased by: his brother, Moses Morris; three sisters, Juanita Raymond, Lillian Terry and infant Peggy Sue Morris; and a step-brother, Douglas Morris. At Dick's request, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland.
