September 9, 1931 – January 22, 2020
Hamlin--- Rino Devost, 88, entered into rest peacefully January 22, 2020, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. He was born September 9, 1931 in Ste. Anne, NB, Canada, a son of the late Maxime and Helene (Clavette) Devost.
Rino worked for John Noble, Caribou, over 20 years as heavy equipment operator. Previously he worked several years in Massachusetts in construction before relocating to his beloved St. John Valley. He had a love for horses and he owned many of them. He enjoyed getting together with his friends and family to go four-wheeling or relaxing to a few friendly card games.
He is survived by: his second wife, Joan (Michaud) Devost; nine children from his first marriage, Armand Devost and his wife Rita, of Caribou, Fernand Devost and his wife Linda, Jacques Devost and his wife Francine, Jacqueline Dupuis and her husband Rejean, Therese Ringuette and her husband Rosaire, Lucille Devost, Mona Cyr and her husband Yves, Lise Devost and Robert Devost, all of Canada; one son with Gloria Michaud, Paul Devost and his wife Jeanna of Presque Isle; his second wife's four children, Brenda French of Washburn, Stanley Madden his wife Sue, Jeffery Madden, both of Greenbush and Sally Elwell and her husband Ed of Winterport; five sisters, Melvina Godin of Caribou, Azilda Petit, Lilianne Bellefleur, Jeanne Godin, and Regina Godin, all of Canada; 29 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne Fortin, Gloria Michaud, three sons, Normand, Ronald and Donald Devost, three brothers, Rosaire, Victorie, and Alcide Devost, three sisters, Alexina Fortin, Angelina Martin, Helena Ruest, and Joan's son Dwayne Madden.
A graveside service will be at a later date this spring at the Grand River Cemetery, State Street, Van Buren. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
