Madawaska---Rita G. Albert, 96, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2023 at a Madawaska health care facility.  She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick on August 8, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Bouchard) Guimond.  Rita was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.  She loved to cook for her family and passed this love on to several of her children.  She is survived by five children, Donald Albert (Washington, DC), Roger (Joan) Albert (Windham, ME), Janice (Dan) Fortin (Madawaska, ME), Carl (Vicky) Albert (Madawaska, ME), and Gary (Chris Lucerne) Albert (San Francisco, CA).  She had eight grandchildren, Matthew Fortin, Danielle Desjardin, Andrew Fortin, Sarah Nicholus, Julie Melrose, Kristin Marston, Nicole Najemian, and Melissa Smith.  She also had thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband of sixty two years, Paul Albert in 2011; her siblings, Nelson Guimond, Marcel Guimond, Martha Guimond, Cecile Carrier, Theresa Ouellette, and Regina Lavoie.  A celebration of life will be celebrated at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ridgewood Estates Activity Fund, 480 Ridgeview Ave., Madawaska, ME 04756.  A special thank you to all the wonderful staff that cared for her these past ten years.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
