Van Buren--- Rita Cyr, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, September 28, 2018, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 16, 1927 in Van Buren, a daughter of the late Hypolite and Julie (Dumond) LeBlanc and was the youngest of twelve children.
Rita worked for Borderview Manor for many years as a CNA. She was a lifetime member of the American legion Auxiliary, Van Buren. She enjoyed volunteering her time with church activities and the thrift shop and spending time at the Van Buren Acadian Village.
She is survived by: one son, Steven Cyr of Marinette, WI; two daughters, Carol Deschenes of Van Buren and Wilma Ouellette of Connor; eleven grandchildren, Kevin, Ricky, Nikki, Jamey, Ryan, Corey, Bobby, Julie, Josh, Levi and Elijah; twelve great grandchildren and one on the way; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Ralph G. Cyr, in 1986, a daughter, Diane Walker in 1983, and eleven siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Thursday morning 9-9:45 AM at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
