Madawaska--- Rita Dionne, 96, wife of the late Romeo Dionne, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on October 29, 2024 at her residence. She was born on January 6, 1928, in St. David, the daughter of Denis and Leda (Cote) Morin.

She was a lifetime member of Les Dames de Ste Anne, worked at Highview Manor and homecare for many years. Rita was well known for her sweets, especially her delicious homemade donuts. She was a talented seamstress and loved knitting socks and slippers for her family. Rita is lovingly remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by five children, Marcel (Judy), Roger (Jeanne), Claude (Diane), all of Madawaska, Claudette (Kenny) Millner of Amherst, VA, and Luc (Tina) of Madawaska; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; four sisters-in-law, Cecile, Riola and Claudette Morin and Therese Dionne, and several nieces and nephews.

Rita was predeceased by her husband Romeo, her daughters, Carmen and Marie, and five brothers, Roland, Fern, Josephel, Romeo and Adrien Morin, one sister, Therese Chamberland, and two sisters-in-law, Alice and Cecile Morin.

A heartfelt thank you to Northern Light Home Care & Hospice for their exceptional care they had provided Rita.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, November 29, 2024, at St David Catholic Church. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday morning from 9:00 AM until mass at the church. Burial will be in the St. David Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Rita may be made to Northern Light Home Care and Hospice, PO Box 867, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements were entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska.
