Madawaska---Rita Francoeur, 96, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2022, at a Madawaska health care facility.  She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick on March 18, 1925, daughter of the late Emond and Marie (Francoeur) Sarlabous.  Rita was a lover of life and could often be found making memories with family, which often included driving boats, motorcycles, and camping.  She was a giving person and would help anyone in need.  Rita is survived by five children, Pauline Shelton and her husband Vincent of North Carolina, Diane Dube and her husband Maurice of Frenchville, Denise Gerard and her husband Bill of St. Agatha, Jean Francoeur of Madawaska, Nancy Francoeur of Houlton; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Ino Francoeur; five siblings.  In keeping with Rita's wishes, there will be no funeral service.  Burial will take place at the St. Thomas Cemetery in the spring.
