Van Buren---Robert M. Bouchard, 76, passed away at his home on Friday, October 16. 2020 after a long battle with heart disease. He was born June 14, 1944 in Van Buren, a son of the late Albert and Jeanne (Cormier) Bouchard.
Bob worked at various jobs throughout his life. He was a meat cutter by trade. He also worked at the Van Buren Highway Department and for a few years and was a bus driver for the school department. Bob was a devout Catholic who attended Mass at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and was a life honorary 3 rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Council 1635, Van Buren. For several years he was a firefighter with the Van Buren Volunteer Fire Department and one of the founding members of the Van Buren Ambulance Service. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved animals; his home usually had at least one cat or dog. Bob will be gravely missed by his faithful dog and best friend, Harley.
He is survived by two sisters, Mona Rossignol and her husband John of Van Buren and Jacqueline Stone of Scarborough; many nieces and nephews; and special companion, Ursule Roy of Notre Dame de Lourdes, NB. He will also be missed by his wife's family, Rena, Therese, Irene, Rose, Norman, Eugene, Mona, and Mark.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 39 years, Estelle Bouchard, two brothers, J. Gerald and Norman Bouchard, and one sister Carol Allen.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated privately by his family at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and he will be buried in the St. Bruno-St. Remi Cemetery in Van Buren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name may be made to St Bruno-St. Remi Parish Needs, c/o Knights of Columbus, 284 Main Street, Van Buren, Maine 04785. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
