Obituary

MADAWASKA--Robert (Bob) H. Cyr, 81, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2021, at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque-Isle with his wife Leola and daughter Sandra by his side.  Bob graduated from Madawaska High and joined the United States Army where he served from 1959-1962.  He was a member of the American Legion, Post 147 of Madawaska as well as a 3 rd degree Knights of Columbus also of Madawaska.  In his younger years, Bob enjoyed motorcycle riding with his wife and friends at every opportunity.  He was an incredibly wonderful skier and loved this sport in the winter months. Watching him ski down a mountain was watching art in motion. In his later years, he loved playing cards at the senior club and with friends at his home. In retirement, he developed a love of reading and, in the summer months, could be seen outside on the swing reading. Never losing his reading momentum, he offered a friendly wave to all, be it from the honk of a horn or the sound of a recognizable vehicle. He also rode many miles on his new red scooter, "Cadillac", which got him around town and kept himself connected with everyone.  He worked at Fraser Paper for 15 years, owned a small engine repair shop with his wife for 15 years, moved to Ogunquit, Maine where he and Leola owned a gift shop and boarding rooms for a few years and finally returning to their beloved town of Madawaska to own and operate Roland Rendezvous for 20 years before retirement. He is predeceased by his parents Raoul & Emelia (Herbert) Cyr; brother, Martin Cyr; niece, Louise Brown; nephew, Dave Ouelette; cousin, Norman Cyr.  He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Leola B. Cyr of Madawaska; his Children, Lynda (Husband Rodney) Cyr of Ray City, GA; Sandra (Fiancé Dickie Ouellette) Cyr of Madawaska, Mark (Wife Candace) Cyr of Madawaska, ME and Tina (Husband Keith) Labbe of Waldoboro; Grandchildren, Calvin Cyr (Illinois), Veronica Boucher (Edmundston, NB), Thomas (T.C.) Cyr (Utah) and Valerie Boucher (Madawaska). One great-grandchild, Kobe Boucher (Edmundston, NB). Also surviving are a multitude of sisters/brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins on both Canadian and American sides.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, on January 6, 2022, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska.
