Hamlin & Van Buren--- Robert G. "Bob" Fournier passed away peacefully on June 16, 2021, at the age of 86. He was born on May 21, 1935, in Van Buren, to Belonie and Anna (Martin) Fournier.

Robert served his country in the Army and the Army Reserves. He worked at Caribou Technology Center, where he taught auto mechanics for 27 years. He was the former Commander of the American Legion, Post #49, and a 3 ^rd Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Van Buren. Coming from a musically gifted family, Robert enjoyed playing the cornet in the Grand Falls band. He was happiest when flying his airplane, riding his motorcycle, and tinkering around his garage. He also loved fly fishing and hunting. Robert was a jack of all trades, whether it was mechanics, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, or fabricating, he could do it all. He was a man of few words who had a good heart. His motto was "Where there is a will, there is a way."

Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Laura (Cyr) Fournier, of Van Buren; two children, Grace and her husband, Gary Theriault, of Grand Falls, NB, Canada; Burke and his partner, Jay Phakey, of Portland; 2 grandchildren, Kristin and her husband, Eric Ayotte; and Garik Theriault.

In addition to his parents, Robert is predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

Robert's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Borderview Rehabilitation and Living Center for the compassionate care provided while Robert was residing there.

A graveside gathering will be held for family and friends at 2pm on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Grand River Cemetery, State Street, Van Buren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
