Obituary

Van Buren--- Robert J. Beaulieu, 83, passed away July 26, 2022, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 2, 1939, in Van Buren, a son of the late Donat and Cecile (Doucette) Beaulieu.

He graduated from Van Buren Boys High School in 1956 and enlisted in the US Army in 1957. Following his honorable discharge, he relocated to Hartford, CT, for work. On November 26, 1964, he married Kathleen Stewart in Van Buren. Bob and Kathleen lived in Hartford for several years before relocating to Van Buren in 1972.

Bob worked for J.J. Paradis and SAD #24 as a custodian and bus driver. Later he worked as a postal carrier for the Van Buren Post Office, retiring in 1999 after 21 years of dedicated service. He was a life member of the American Legion, Post #49, and a nine-year volunteer of the Van Buren Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Kathleen (Stewart) Beaulieu of Van Buren; two children, Jeffrey Beaulieu of Bangor and Jill Nadeau and her husband Tim of Fort Kent; one brother, Ralph Beaulieu and his wife Robertine of W. Hartford, CT; three step-grandchildren, Kaylie, Isabell and Andrew; three sisters-in-law, Johanna Beaulieu of Caribou, Terry Beaulieu, and Rica "Joyce" Beaulieu, all of Bristol, CT; brother-in-law, Donald Martel of Auburn; family friends, Tristen and Colin Beckett, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Beaulieu, five brothers, Danny, Donald, Roland, Eugene "Kit," and Edward "Charlie" Beaulieu, four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stewart, Cindy Martel, Patricia Beaulieu and Bertile "Bea" Beaulieu.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Visitation will be Friday morning 9 – 9:45 AM at the church. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Donations in Bob's name may be made to: Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, c/o NMMC, 194 E. Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
