Madawaska --- Robert Lavoie, 92, passed away on February 18,
2019
at a Madawaska health care facility. Robert was born on September 15, 1926, son of the late Eloi and Laura (Martin) Lavoie. He operated the family owned business, Lavoie and Sons Dairy Farm until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed Hunting, Snowshoeing, cutting
wood,
and taking pictures of nature. Robert was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it be treating a sick animal or even saving a life. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he was very proud of. Robert is survived by his eight children, Aurel Lavoie and his wife Joan of Frenchville, Ronald Lavoie and his wife Renée of CT, Rachel Holmquist and her husband Larry of Saco, Carol Roberts and her husband Chuck of NC, Diane Dionne and her husband Don of St. David, Elaine Fongemie and her husband Paul of Fairfield, Pierrette Soucy and her husband Jim of Madawaska, and Mona Lavoie of Madawaska; 18 Grandchildren; 32 Great–Grandchildren; four siblings, Felix Lavoie and his wife Doreen of Madawaska, Martin Lavoie of Madawaska, Aurore D'Amours of Edmundston, N.B, and Lorraine Picard of MA, one brother-in-law, Ernest "Nest" Ruest; along with many nieces and nephews. Robert is predeceased by one infant son, Mark Allen Lavoie; two sisters, Cecile Raymond and Louise Ruest; and the mother of his Children, Rita (Michaud) Lavoie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at
10am
on Saturday, February 23,
2019
at the St. Thomas Church in Madawaska. Family and Friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home in Madawaska from 6-8pm on Friday, February 22,
