January 30, 1930 – October 21, 2021
Winterville-- Robert Bruce Rochester, 91, died on October 21, 2021 peacefully at the Veterans home at Carry Medical Center, Caribou Maine. Bob was born in Portland, Maine on January 30, 1930 and grew up in Rouses Point, NY. He served in the military and fought in the infantry during the Korean War. Upon returning from the war he met and married the love of his life Eva Albert.
Bob is survived by his 3 Sons, David, Richard and Michael Rochester, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He taught Surveying and Forestry Classes at the University of Maine at Fort Kent and was instrumental in establishing the forestry program at the university. Bob had a commercial pilots license, owned his own Float plane and loved to pilot small aircraft. He flew biologists around the state to do population studies for different species of wildlife. Bob retired from the State of Maine as the Northern Maine District Forester. He started a Christmas tree farm and worked on the farm many years after retiring.
In his later years, his love of fishing shined as he was a specialist at catching lake trout some of which are displayed at his residence on St. Froid Lake. He also spent his winters in Florida with his wife for many years later in life. Bob will be deeply missed by his family.
A military graveside service will be performed at St. Mary's Cemetery in Eagle Lake on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 10am, followed by a dinner at the Eagle Lake Legion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
